So I haven't posted in a while or at least more than a link. My girlfriend, GoBetsy, Ms. Baseball, Femily, whatever you'd like to call her, says that I never write anything positive on my blog. Well, I got a job or rather I'm going back to the shithole I've worked in for the last 5 and a half years. I had my color testing. Basically I get tested to see if I could tell the difference between colors. They give me four different color sets and I have to place them in order of hue. four sets of 25. These goes from purple to red, red to green, green to blue, blue to purple. Out of 100 I missed 3 basically that restates what we all know, I'm a genius. I didn't even try. If i was really concerned i would've spent more than 60 seconds looking at the tiles. Or if truly concerned I could've looked at the numbers on the bottom. But alas. It was still the best score they've ever gotten at this Photography plant, and a very rare occurrence with-in the company as a whole. In conclusion I'm an autistic I mean artistic genius and I know my colors.
According to some who'll read this there are only eight colors, like in the crayola box, ROY G. BV, brown, and black. Some'll say white is a color, but that spawns all kinds of debates (visually white is the combination of all colors, black is the absence of color, when mixing paint black is the combination of all colors and white is the absence of pigment) On the other hand humans can see three colors Red, Green, Blue thanks to the cones in our eyeballs [rods detect grays and shades of gray{again 100% gray is black and 0% gray is white} that's why computer and TV screens are composed of RGB pixels that have been rasterized and put back together with your brain. If you get up real close to your TV/comp screen you can see this] and photos are exposed as RGB in a subtractive process where you start with black and subtract levels of RGB to get you colors. Then there's an additive process used in printing and really bad photo printing called CMYK ~to make it easy they use a K for black so as to not confuse it with blue or Potassium~ If you look inside your ink jet printer you see this in the rip-off that is your printer ink.
I often would enjoy pissing art teachers off (those who know me will laugh or cringe) when they inevitably ask for students to paint a color wheel (happens in like every class) and I ask questions like"Do you want a subtractive or additive color wheel?" "Do you want us to use hues, tones, shades, tints, or saturations?" Hue is another word for color, Tone is the effect of the sun on color, Shade is adding black, Tint is adding white, and saturation is adding gray. They get all frustrated and huff and puff and i do one and get an A and then watch all the other students look dumbfounded for the next two weeks we have to work on it. (This falls in line for when a smug teacher says he can tell what kind of person you are {optimist/pessimist} by ask "Is the glass half full or half empty?" and I say something to the effect "The glass is completely full half water half air"{realism} Others have said that "the size of the glass is overly sufficient for the amount of water it contains"{small penis, hee hee})
Anyways, something positive.... ummm.... the Red Sox rule. Football season is here. Garden State is the best movie you'll see this year (especially if you're 25-32). I'm a genius. My girlfriend is gonna buy me Greek food at the festival tonight. Her mom whom I love and enjoy is gonna buy me dinner tomorrow. I start making money again on Monday. I got a B-day party for one of my friends' kids at Chuck E. Cheese on Saturday (skeeball = sweet). All in all my life isn't that bad,and its not my fault if the human race is stupid.

So, I love movies. I rarely am surprised by a movie (i.e., ending, quality). But, last night I saw a movie that I had not heard much about and was sin and out of the theaters fairly quickly. The movie was "Man on Fire"; Denzel Washington, "Pitch Black"'s Radha Mitchell. It was really good. This furthers my opinion that marketing is the devil. I saw like three commercials for this movie while it was in the theaters. It was in and out. Yet movies like "Starsky and Hutch" linger for long times. I don't know why this is? I think it is because people are stoopid. there I said it. The American public is, as I've heard good folks here in the s'th say, touched. I've heard that one should never underestimate the power people in large groups. Well the American public are sheep, no not even that smart, Lemmings. Do you know what lemmings are? Lemmings are rodents that migrate in herds and follow the leader even if that means off of a cliff to their death or drowning in bodies of water to deep or large to cross. It doesn't mean they are suicidal, they just don't know any better. Nor do they try. People tend not to question. Anything. Everything. Religion, politics, relationships, laws, rules, education, money, TV, pop culture. Most people just take everything at face value.
Why is it that every loud-mouthed blow-hard on a cable news channel talks about how liberal the media is, yet if they all are saying it, then who's liberal? And why is liberal bad? What's wrong with wanting more/better education. More/better healthcare for everyone. More/better jobs for anyone that wants to work (along with ass whippins for those that don't). More/better air to breathe for as long and my wonderful healthcare allows me to live and my money I earned at my wonderful job allowed me to save for. Instead we get conservative companies taking their conservative money out of our conservative country and paying people in other countries to do our jobs for less money AND they get tax breaks from our conservative government and store their conservative money off shore so they don't have top pay anymore conservative taxes than they wish, while eliminating all benefits for workers who are a year or so shy of the 35 years and their pension. And yet say, two people of the same sex who choose, to say, live together and get married and raise children is the devil. "AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! Run away, run away we might get cooties or something!" Dumbasses.
So on a lighter note. My first freelance design work had been published, it looks like crap cuz of course the conservative printing company I designed it for sucks and screwed it up, but still I'm professional now. I'm excited. I'm bonified. Maybe it'll help me get a conservative job at a conservative company and buy conservative crap that has been conservatively marketed. |

I'm happy about this terror alert thing. I'm glad we're going to have yet another terrorist/intelligence agency. This is a bold move by the President, I thought that republicans were against big government. The President is working hard to make sure that the US is as prepared as it can be in the event of an terrorist attack, and it is important that you are ready too.
No, that's a lie. I'm sorry, I can't keep it up. The President is working hard to get re-elected, and to give himself more money. Your safety's maybe number ten on the priority list, just below stopping the Bush twins from going on another drinking binge and keeping the President, I'm mean VICE President, Dick Cheney from dying. |

Today I realized I'm old.
Being unemployed, broke, with nothing to do but favors for others I channel surf. See, people don't know how difficult job hunting can be. Cuz like no one wants to hire you. No one cares. They get like 400 resumes, call 25 people, interview 5, and then you hear nothing, you give them a call a week later (to be professional) and they like have already forgotten who you are.
I'm also trying to use like way too much. I actually have a job, it sucks, I for a "reputable" yearbook company, but I get laid off for the summer (no school/no work) so i spend my summer looking for work drawing unemployment praying I find a job so i don't have to go back. No one wants to hire me. I'm too smart for my own good. I'm starter than most people and it shows. It kind of sucks. I try to act dumb and under qualified for these jobs, but it shows. When the whole "So why do you wanna work here?" question pops up, I think, "shit, now I gotta lie." So, I give that whole teamwork blah, blah, blah, better myself, wanna work hard, learn something new. What I really want to say is,” I don't, but I need money and I can earn more here than my other job AND I can do this job in my sleep so it won't bother my personal life!" But that won't get you hired, so you lie and try to act like "wow, this job would be great, just what I’m looking for, when can I start?" When what you're really thinking is "God, I hope I don't have to drive this far to work everyday."
So back to why I'm old. I'm a music snob. I love music. I have a wide range of likes. Not many people put White Zombie, Lil Jon & tha Eastside BoyZ, and La Donna e Mobile on the same cd. Anyways (yeah, I know its not a word, bite me), I love Punk Rock (we’ll get into what’s wrong with rap at a later date). I've been into punk and ska for 16 years. The Dead Milkmen, The Ramones; you start out slow, then you expand into different types of punk; punk fused with other types of music; ska, rap, Jesus (Fishbone, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Reel Big Fish, MXPX). So in the past several years Punk has become fashionable, even marketable. People describe themselves as being Punk to gain notoriety and exposure. So today I'm working on a friends computer when I’m flipping channels (If there’s not a show on cars, Law and Order, Queer Eye, or West Wing there's nothing on). I pass by the MTV, the NOT music television, when there is an add for some awards program or concert or something. And they start listing the bands appearing. Blink 182, Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, Yellowcard, etc. All these bands considered Punk, only they're not. If you separate the fashion of the band members from their music you're left with good old fashioned Rock 'n Roll. These bands suuuuuuuuuuck!

Yeah it’s some kind of TRL week shite. This is what pisses me off. These bands are on the Warped Tour. To those who don't know the Warped Tour, its and event that last a day with like 50 bands on 4 stages sponsored by Vans shoes. Ten years ago it was fun, a bunch of bands from a obscure indie label (www.Epitaph.com) to tour together. You still have a couple of decent bands on the tour (NOFX, Bad Religion, The Aquabats, The Bouncing Souls, The Casualties, Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards, and Flogging Molly), but for every one of them their are 5 that reek. Just check out the web page (http://www.warpedtour.com/index2.html) at the bottom. The sponsors Dodge, Playstation, AOL, the tobacco council, Hot Topic (the epitome of selling punk), slim jim, and others. Almost all of the bands on the main stage are MTV whores.
So why am I old, and why have you been reading this. I finally realized that pop culture SUCKS. Everything on MTV is crap. The "reality" shows aren't reality. Everyone is too pretty (stupid). The most popular show (Newlyweds) stars an insufferable half-retard dolt married to a guy who wears only things from Cincinnati that only stays with her because she's hot and he gets some (the truth to most relationships now [will explain in a later post]).
So what have I gleaned from all this. America’s youth (AKA generation Y - kids born post 1977-78) are spoiled, ignorant, sexually driven, disrespectful, immoral, illiterate, nonpolitical, with poor taste in music and tattoos, and no work ethic or sense of responsibility. And they have all their daddies’ credit cards, which is why this crap is marketed out the arse. The antithesis of Punk in marketing.
I feel old. I think I'll just go eat worms. |
